Sextape case: Benzema is convicted and sentenced to one year in prison

French international Karim Benzema is given a one-year suspended prison sentence by the Versailles Criminal Court. This Wednesday, November 24, after being found guilty of complicity and attempted blackmail in the Valbuena sextape affair. 

Real Madrid's French striker Karim Benzema Was accused of encouraging his former friend and team-mate to pay a group of people who demanded money in return for the non-disclosure of a video involving the former Marseille player . This prevented Benzema from being called up to the French national team for more than five years. 

Freshly back with the Blues, less than a year from the world Karim Benzema knows his fate. The 33-year-old striker is given a one-year suspended prison sentence and will pay a fine of 75,000 euros. The Merengue captain was unable to attend the three-day trial last month as he was in concentration with the Madrid club in the Champions League. However, the player's lawyers have announced that they will appeal the judgment immediately. 

Less than a year from the Qatar World Cup, the president of the French federation Noël Le Graët in an interview with Le Parisien on November 10, made it known that the footballer will not be excluded from the national team in relation to to a possible sanction from French justice.
