During a press briefing on Thursday, May 26, 2022 on the shooting in Uvalde, Texas, White House spokeswoman Karine Jean Pierre made a strong call for arms regulation in the United States.

Visibly touched by the death of these 21 people killed in the shooting at the school of Uvalde, the American of Haitian origin affirms that the security of American citizens is not in the liberalization of the carrying of weapons.

“There are more guns than people in this country. If more guns were the answer, America would be the safest country in the world. And we are not, ”she said, while being deeply dismayed.

This shooting at the Uvalde school has caused a great stir in the middle of American society, especially with the 18 children who are killed in this carnage.

“Why are we willing to live with this carnage? Why do we keep letting this happen? For God's sake, where is our courage? So I ask, how is protecting our children a partisan issue? Why is preventing innocent people from being slaughtered controversial?”

According to a recent study by health officials in the United States, homicide by firearm has become the leading cause of death among young people, far more than road accidents.
